Meet Squidge the Collie.... I was asked to paint Squidge as a Surprise Birthday present for Squidge's Mum so it's been all hush hush for a while! But now I can reveal the painting....
I popped over to the farm where Squidge lives for a photo shoot where I also got to meet the lovely Chocolate labs Narla and Muffin who wanted to get in on the action! I have to say I am immensely grateful for the invention of Digital Cameras as I must take hundreds of pics when I do this! So after sifting through all the photos and spending some time with Squidge I was ready to get started.
The first thing I noticed about Squidge was his eyes, the deep amber colours really stand out against his white fur so I wanted to make sure I capture all this detail in the painting, also one of Squidge's little quirks is his ears, as you might see in the photos below he always has one up and one down, it's all these unique features of pets that I focus on as this is what brings out their personality and character in the painting.
